New York, N.Y. - Kentucky's favorite chefs will be working side by side with the James Beard Foundation and celebrity chefs from around the United States during the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™, which will feature eight world championships in equestrian sport at Lexington's Kentucky Horse Park from September 25 through October 20, 2010.
Cookin' in the Bluegrass: A Celebrity Chef Dinner Series, will be held at the Kentucky Horse Park's Farmhouse restaurant during the 16 nights of the 2010 Games. Each night, 80 guests will enjoy dining experiences that replicate the sumptuous dinners held at the prestigious James Beard House in New York City.
The dinner series stems from collaboration between the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, the James Beard Foundation and the Kentucky Horse Park Foundation, and is sponsored by Kentucky Proud, a program of the Kentucky Department of Agriculture, funded by the Kentucky Agricultural Development Fund.
The celebrity and Kentucky chefs will together prepare dishes reflecting their geographic region or culinary specialties, and will have the opportunity to use Kentucky-grown food products. Participation by Kentucky Proud, funded in part by the Kentucky Agricultural Development Fund, will highlight the vitality of the farm to table movement and give visiting chefs access to fresh, locally grown food products.
Proceeds from Cookin' in the Bluegrass will benefit the James Beard Foundation, the Kentucky Horse Park Foundation, and the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games.
Tickets will be available for purchase in February at www.alltechfeigames.com.
Stay tuned for updates on the Farmhouse. We have all missed our favorite lunch spot this winter and are dreaming of ideas for our new menu! See you when the grass is green and the weather is warmer!
Short’s Sports & Events, a division of Short’s Travel Management, the official Housing Bureau for the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games has developed a priority program for hotel accommodations. This program will allow you to place a room reservation well in advance of the Games and prior to when most hotel reservations systems will be able to do so.
Please follow these steps:
1. Click on this link: https://www.planningpoint.net/Events/HOTELDEPOSITSITE2 or cut and paste the URL onto your web browser. Should you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me via email at creimer@shortstravel.com
2. You will be asked to enter some personal information and general hotel request information, to include the approximate arrival and departure dates. You will need to place a non-refundable deposit via major credit card, of which all but the administration fee will apply to the hotel room total.
Once you have completed the online process, you will receive a confirmation of your registration via email. This will be your receipt of payment as well. You will not be able to select a specific hotel property at this time, but the data you enter allows the Housing Bureau to most efficiently manage the hotel room blocks amongst constituent groups such as you, the early hotel deposit attendee, the teams, media, sponsors, etc.
3. The specific selection of hotel properties will begin April 27, 2009. At that time you will have approximately three weeks to make a hotel selection. The initial deposit amount (minus the administration fee) will be transferred to the hotel guaranteeing your reservation. Again, please note that this deposit is non-refundable and will show on your statement as Short's Travel Management or PayPal. Future deposit payments will be made directly to the hotel selected by you.
